5 Minimalistic Personal Websites to Drool Over

It's been a while since I've been in the blogosphere. Well, hello again!

As you may or may not have noticed, the loading time of this website +/- a year, and some of the icons don't even load. That's a bummer. I've been thinking for a while about redesigning and going going the personal, one page route with a blogging tab/gallery at the bottom. This search lead me to OnePageLove.com, a great resource for one page templates and website examples.

Here's a couple I've picked as favorites. Suggestions for which one would work best for me?

Daily Dishonesty, a lovely project by Lauren Nicole Hom, reminds us of the lies we tell ourselves everyday. 3 hours of sleep though - 3 hours of sleep is totally enough!

Impress Me with Your Fridge

Aren't we all a little tired of people trying to impress us with their cars and houses? Not to mention those who still think owning a Mac product is extraordinary cool. How about we unite and make more everyday products more impressive?

Electrolux is way ahead of us - encouraging students all around the world to come up with innovative application of Electrolux designs with their Design Lab contest. Impress Fridge was one of the finalist. I mean... just look at this thing:

I'll Make Your Eyes Hurt Just a Little

Not with this one! The eye hurting pick is below the fold.. So scroll down, if you dare!

Gaming media identity is one of a kind, if you ask me. Clear and distinct design is not something you often see with games - surprisingly! And oh, that pencil. Cupid just got my heart. 

Strawberry Sushi: No distractions

Because fish are the best animals. They do not talk. They don't really do anything, but that's just me being picky. Point is - fish are the best pets out there to put in (on?) a phone booth. No distractions, no interruptions. And you feel much less lonely, too.

Cool balls

I don't really know what is the meaning of those balls being the location where they are, but it looks pretty damn cool.

Hair, that is. For your lovely dog.

Besides the catchy visual, this print ad is simply lovely due to the perfect definition of the target audience. Our of all dog owners, which ones are most likely to use conditioner on their dogs? That's right, the owners of pink Pomeranians.

Who said it makes no sense to spend a sunny day indoors charging your phone? With the new Window Cling Solar Charger, you'd simply 'clip' the battery onto the window and enjoy an eco-friendly battery fill. Maybe even go outside while it's charging. Or play with your computer.

Happy back to school! Let Blue Strawberry educate you once in a forever, too. The other day I came across a beautiful picture of my favorite bagel in the world - the salmon cream cheese one. And yes I was introduced to it by my jewish ex boyfriend, in case you were wondering. The bagel ended up being part of the 'History of New York in 50 Objects' project...

Stamping LDN

I am gonna have to admit - these took me a while to figure out. Not sure if it was a long day, or the stamps were purposely designed to make you stare at them for longer than 2 seconds, but there was some brain/eye work involved.

Don't Ignore the Monuments

Street sculpture is, perhaps, my least favorite form of art. This does not have much to do with the form of art per se, but rather its old fashioned nature. Too 'appropriate', too 'formal' - if you ask me. Yet, there is hope! Or at least one decent monument. Introducing: The Seeder:

Bardot - Advanced Ice Cream Technologies

Bardot, formally known as Advanced Ice Cream Technologies, is a boutique ice cream purveyor from Mexico. While the previous name does not sound nearly as sexy as the new one, a quick look at the products would give you a complete idea of where it is coming from.

The logo adds an indulgence element to the brand, which is perfectly complimented by their shopping bags, plastic cups, and of course, the products themselves. My only concern is that for quite a few of us, this identity might be easier associated with something closer to a lingerie store. But then again, I bet that once you try that ice-cream... you will never associate lips with a sex shop again.

Never Get Off Facebook

... Not that I ever do, right now - but that's secondary.

What is the main purpose for your smartphone? Out of everyone I know, most use it as an email/texting/facebooking device much more often than they actually make calls. Calls are annoying. They involve interaction. They are unpredictable. You have to give answers right away. Who wants that. It's so 2000s.

Thus, as crazy as this little device may seem, there might actually be a decent market for it. If people stop pretending to be professional and start showing their real, profile pic, faces.

Oh how I wish I saw this a few weeks before! This retro iPhone, iPad, and credit card holder is as manly as it can be, on a scale from Barbie doll to Hemingway. Plus, it keeps everything together, and takes the absolute minimal space in the pocket - what man doesn't love that? If only it also had a Moleskine attached to it as well...

Cloud Promotion

This little promotional piece by Cloud Inc., an Australian design studio, reminds me of the 'Fresh Icelandic Air in a Jar'- so hot a few years ago. Though I have to admit that this one is much more adorable. And puffy.
